Davisburg senior Sara Winkler poses on an abandoned rail car wearing an old dance costume Monday morning near W. Pickard Road. Winkler, who has been dancing for 15 years, is the current President of the Infusion Dance team. “Dancing is an art that uses true emotion and honest passion,” Winkler said, “There seems to be a common misconception between dancing and stripping. Just because strippers may use ‘dancer’ as their title doesn’t mean the two should be seen as similar.” This comparison is fairly common in society, as exemplified with the T-Pain song “I’m in Love With A Stripper,” which when edited for the radio, is called “I’m In Love With A Dancer.”

>JRN 420: Studio Portrait #1

>Due to certain…Technical difficulties…that being my computer bit the dust…I’m finally putting up my studio portraits for class, as well as some outtakes.

Originally I thought I needed to different subjects, so that’s what I shot, and that’s what I’ll show you. First is Ryan O’Neill.

Camera: Nikon D300s
Focal Length: 52mm
ISO: 100
Aperture: f/8
Shutter: 1/250

Livonia senior Ryan O’Neill, dressed as Leadership Safari Guide Elvis, plays on his guitar and sings Elvis classics. O’Neill, a former Disney Cast Member, is known for his variety of costumes and characters, ranging from the Joker, to Elvis, perhaps his best known, and Waldo from Where’s Waldo. O’Neill leads CMU’s Legends of the Dark and also organized Thrill the World on campus.

Aperture: f/11

Livonia senior Ryan O’Neill grasps his saxophone at his side whilst raising a Nerf Sword and belting out his battle cry (which made the lab monitor think someone was dying or being raped.) In addition to his characters and costumes, O’Neill is also involved with the CMU Marching Chips and Leadership Safari.

And now for lighting set ups. I decided to keep it simple, and let his character show through…

Only had a minute to shoot, really…Class was ending. Just had some fun, that’s all. Not really my style, I prefer higher contrast lighting, darker backgrounds…
